A 64-megapixel tele sensor is not "more wells for a crop." On LYT-610, the useful story is how RB2×2 OCL keeps detail and AF on a 0.7 µm Quad Bayer array, and whether 4K120 on a 1/2.0-type die is real enough for your sub-camera path.


Sony ships LYTIA 610 as a 1/2.0-type (8.095 mm diagonal), about 64 effective megapixels, stacked BSI, rolling shutter. Pixel pitch is 0.7 µm. Camemaker lists RGB Bayer, Raw 10/12-bit, MIPI CSI-2, CSP, and HDR. Sony targeted mass-production shipment for end of June 2026.


RB2×2 OCL in plain terms


Quad Bayer packs four same-color wells as one logical pixel. Sony's RB2×2 OCL puts 1×1 microlenses on green for definition and shared 2×2 microlenses on red and blue for phase detect. With remosaicing tuned for that layout, Sony claims more than 20% higher spatial resolution versus its same-pitch LYTIA 601 (0.7 µm, 2×2 OCL).


For a module builder: tele detail and AF you can plan around, not a checkbox you hope survives remosaic.


4K120 on 1/2-type


Fine-process logic and a more parallel AD path roughly double readout versus Sony's prior 1/2-type class. Published rates include 64 MP 24 fps, 16 MP 60 fps (30 fps DAG-HDR), and 4K2K 120 fps (60 fps DAG-HDR). That closes some of the gap to larger main sensors so multi-lens video transitions stay more uniform.
